Although a tsunami can be occurred in many places such as the Pacific Ocean, the Atlantic Ocean, the Indian Ocean, and the Mediterranean Sea, it mostly takes place in the Pacific ring of fire. The neighboring countries, including the USA, Japan, Philippine, Indonesia, and Papua New Guinea, have suffered from tsunamis for many years. From a tectonic aspect, the Pacific ring of fire is a subduction zone where the Pacific Plate plunges down under many other plates. Tsunamis occurring around the subduction zone sometimes can cross the Pacific Ocean, causing much damage to the surrounding countries of the Pacific Rim.
